Here is our class treaty.

In our class we are going to
 be kind and respectful
 be a friend
 be tidy
be honest
be sensible

Last term we had lots of fun learning all about our Pacific Neighbours.  We really enjoyed this topic and it was great to be able to share our learning at our Pacifica day at the end of the term.

This term we are learning how we stay safe.  We already have some great ideas about when we might not be safe.  You could discuss these ideas further with your child at home.

“If we are in the care and we have not got on our seat belts”

“If there is a tsunami – that’s a tidal wave – a big, big wave that smashes into our classroom.”

”if there was a flood”

“If there was an earthquake”

‘If there was an eruption of a volcano”

“If we leave home without telling mummy or daddy”

“If there is lots of ice”

“If there is lots of snow”

“If there is a fire”

“If we are in the bath, shower, pool, spar or near water without telling an adult”

“If there is a robber or a baddie in our home or our school”

“If we are in the kitchen and we touch something like the oven – it might be hot you know!”

“If I eat something that I am allergic to”

“If there is a busy road and we don’t have a mummy or daddy with us”

“If we are in the garage or bathroom and we find something that looks like lollies or yummy drink and we eat and drink it – you might get sick you know!”

Room 23 have lots of fun using the computer.  At the moment we are learning how to use the following websites.  Maybe you could have a go at home.

www.starfall.com  (there are lots of letters and sounds to learn on this game)

www.sunshineonline.co.nz (there are lots of stories to listen to and read and games that go with them)

www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing (this game teaches us how to touch type!)
